Comprehensive Dry Eye Solutions Made Just For You
We take a personalized and comprehensive approach to dry eye care. Through diagnostics like tear analysis and imaging, we aim to understand the root cause of your symptoms and how factors such as your health, lifestyle, and daily activities play a role.
Dry eye happens when tears can’t properly hydrate and protect the eyes, leading to discomfort and irritation. This might result from reduced tear production, quick evaporation, or an imbalance in the tear film—a delicate layer that keeps the eyes healthy and comfortable.
Common dry eye symptoms include:
- Grittiness
- Redness
- Feeling like something’s in your eye
- Blurred vision
- Light sensitivity
- Watery eyes
These issues are incredibly common, affecting around 90% of Albertans, but they’re often left untreated, which can sometimes lead to more serious eye problems over time.
We want to help. Our goal is to empower you with solutions that promote lasting eye health and improved quality of life. Book your dry eye consultation today.

Your Dry Eye Consultation at Glow
In your dry eye consultation, we’ll aim to understand your symptoms and ask about your overall health. We’ll learn how you use your eyes—whether you spend hours looking at screens, work outdoors, or deal with other environmental factors.
Using our diagnostic technology, we’ll evaluate your tear evaporation, conduct a thorough tear film analysis, and take high-definition images of your meibomian glands—the tiny glands in your eyelids responsible for producing tear-stabilizing oils.
We’ll also analyze blinking patterns and other factors to better understand the root causes of your discomfort.
Our Dry Eye Treatment Therapies
Once we’ve reviewed all our findings, we’ll discuss the array of possible next steps to address your symptoms, relieve discomfort, and promote lasting comfort.
We believe in a collaborative approach to care, so you can understand what’s contributing to your dry eye. We’ll share practical advice, including lifestyle changes like adjusting your workspace, adjusting your nutrition, or finding ways to blink more regularly during screen use.
Here are our most common dry eye treatment approaches.
Glow Lid Treatment
Our Glow Lid Treatment is a refreshing 15–20 minute therapy that combines several targeted dry eye treatments to support your comfort and vision.
We use gentle heat and meibomian gland expression to improve oil flow for your tear film, then use Zocular Zest lid cleaning to cleanse and refresh your lids. Next, we’ll use red light therapy to promote overall cellular healing and finish with hydrating Blephaderm cream on your lids for long-lasting comfort.
You can add a Glow Lid Treatment to any eye appointment.
Preservative-Free Eye Drops & Sprays
These gentle options help rehydrate and soothe your eyes without irritating preservatives. They’re safe for frequent use and provide relief when your eyes feel dry or gritty throughout the day.
Eye Compresses
A warm compress applied to your eyelids can soften blockages in the meibomian glands. Regular use encourages healthier oil flow, which can improve tear stability and reduce irritation.
Meibomian Gland Expression & Probing
Meibomian gland expression and probing are treatments designed to clear blockages in your glands. By gently encouraging healthy oil flow, this therapy can address one of the primary causes of dry eye—preventing tears from evaporating too quickly.
Omega-3 Supplements
Omega-3s are essential fatty acids that help reduce inflammation and promote healthy tear production. While you can find omega-3s in foods like salmon, walnuts, and flaxseeds, supplements can make it easier to get enough to support your eyes’ comfort and hydration.
You can find dry eye-formulated omega-3s in our online store.
Scleral Contact Lenses
If your dry eye symptoms are severe and disruptive to your day, we may recommend scleral contact lenses.
Scleral lenses are custom-fit contact lenses that create a cushion of moisture over your eyes. They are designed to prevent dryness and discomfort while helping protect and heal your eyes’ surface, making them an excellent choice for severe dry eye.
Jett Plasma Pen
The Jett Plasma Pen offers an energy-based, noninvasive way to manage meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) while also firming the delicate skin around the eyes.
This treatment stimulates healing, improves oil flow, and decreases inflammation by using targeted plasma energy. It can also tighten and rejuvenate eyelids, helping you look rested and refreshed.
What Causes Dry Eye?
Your tear film is made up of oils, water, and mucus. Its purpose is to protect and nourish your eyes, but when any part of this balance is disrupted, it can result in dry eye.
For most people with dry eye, meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) is a contributing factor. The meibomian glands in your eyelids produce the oils that stabilize your tear film. When these glands become clogged or don’t work correctly, your tears evaporate too quickly, leading to dry, irritated eyes.
Blepharitis is a condition where the eyelids become inflamed, often due to bacteria or blocked glands. It doesn’t just cause irritation, but can also contribute to dry eye symptoms.
Dry Eye Symptoms
Dry eye can affect anyone, but some factors make it more likely, including:
- Aging
- Hormonal changes
- Extended screen use
- Exposure to dry air or wind
- Wearing contact lenses
- Certain health conditions
- Some medications
